The Monthly Bethel Buzz – January 2020

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year over the holiday break! We have missed all the children and are excited to get back into the swing of things. The month of January brings the excitement of winter weather. The classes will be learning about the winter season and all the things it brings.

With that being said, I would like to remind all of our parents that the preschool follows Chesterfield County Schools when it comes to inclement weather. If Chesterfield County is closed then the preschool is closed. If Chesterfield is on a two-hour delay, the preschool will open at 11:30 and close at 1:30. If a delay happens on a lunch bunch day, we will issue a credit to be used for another lunch bunch of your choice. I will also send out an e-mail blast to inform you of our status. Our first priority is the safety of our children and staff. Please stay tuned to your televisions this winter season.

Medarva will be coming to the preschool on Tuesday, January 14th to perform free vision and hearing testing to all our students ages 3 and up.  This is a quick and simple test for your child to ensure that their vision and hearing are where they need to be at this time. A consent form was sent home last month so be sure to send it in by 1/7 to be able to participate.

Our next Chick-Fil-A Night will be held on Wednesday January 15th at Chick-Fil-A in Westchester Commons. It is so nice to see both church families and the preschool families come together to help support our preschool. Just a reminder that the preschool must be able to make over $300.00 in food sales to continue holding our fundraisers. This is such an amazing event for the preschool. Let’s see if we can continue our success!  Come and show your support by having dinner at Chick-Fil-A. Remember to say you’re there for Spirit Night so Bethel can receive the credit and don’t forget to stop by and spin the wheel for a chance to win prizes.

The preschool will be closed on Monday January 20th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Please be sure to mark your calendars accordingly.

Our teachers will be doing student assessments during the month of January. These assessments help the teachers to gauge where your child is developmentally as well as academically. Preschool will be closed on Tuesday, January 21st for students so that we can hold Parent/Teacher Conferences to discuss with you in detail your child’s progress. Each family will be assigned a time slot of 15 minutes for your conference. Childcare will be provided for you during the conferences. Please keep a look out for additional information from your teacher. As always, my door is open if you have any questions and or concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact me.

By ordering books for your child not only are you encouraging learning and reading but you are earning free books for your teachers and their classrooms to be shared by all. Reading is one of the most rewarding gifts to a child. January Scholastic book orders will be due by January 23rd.

Once again, thank you for sharing your children with us. It is a privilege and an honor to help them grow into the young people they are to be. Have a safe and fun filled January!
