The Monthly Bethel Buzz – March 2019

April is always an exciting time for the preschool. The children will begin to learn about the season and what it brings with it. The life cycles of animals, insects and plants will be studied. Students will learn ways to take care of their environment and celebrate Earth Day. Our Pre-K class will also be getting ready for Kindergarten Registration which will be held at all Elementary Schools on Thursday, April 11th. And of course, the biggest thing in April is EASTER! April is a very busy month for everyone here at Bethel!
As the children are making strides into their next level of schooling I hope you are too by getting your children registered for the next school year. Our enrollment for the 2019/2020 School year opened to you on February 1st and to the public on February 15th.  I hope you will take advantage of the $10.00 discount on the registration fee by registering your child before March 22nd. Spots are filling up fast and now that it is open to the public, our enrollment will be on a first come, first serve basis. Please be sure to sign up as soon as possible to not lose your space. If you know of any families looking for a preschool, please be sure to let them know about Bethel.

Bethel always likes to do something special to honor our parents to let them know how much we love and appreciate them. On Thursday March 7th from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. the preschool will be hosting our annual Dads’ Night! All dads and father figures are invited to come and join us in your child’s classroom for a small program followed by crafts, food and fun! We hope you will come!

The Pre-K Class will be taking a field trip to Flat Rock Elementary School via a Powhatan School Bus on Wednesday, March 20th. The students will have the opportunity to meet the Principal and Assistant Principal, take a tour of the school and to observe and participate in a Kindergarten classroom. What a great experience to help ease the transition from Preschool to Kindergarten!

Our next Chick-Fil-A Night will be held on Wednesday March 20th  at Chick-Fil-A in Westchester Commons. It is so nice to see both church families and the preschool families come together to help support our preschool. Just a reminder that the preschool must be able to make over $300.00 in food sales to continue doing the fundraiser each month so be sure when ordering to tell them it is for Spirit Night! Don’t forget to stop by and spin the wheel for a chance to win prizes. I hope to see everyone there!

I know how much you love to have pictures of your children. I am so happy to announce we will be doing Spring Pictures this month. Michelle Proctor of Michelle Proctor Photography will be here on Thursday, March 21st to take your child’s pictures! Additional information will be sent home the week before pictures so please keep a lookout for it.

I would like to thank all of you who have supported the preschool by purchasing books from Scholastics. By ordering books for your child not only are you encouraging learning and reading but you are earning free books for your teachers and their classrooms to be shared by all.  Because of your help, the preschool has earned so many new books that are free to the school. Thank you for your support. Reading is one of the most rewarding gifts to a child. March Scholastic book orders will be due by March 21st.

Please be aware that Chesterfield County Public Schools and Powhatan County Public Schools are doing things a bit different this year. Spring Break will take place the first week of April. Bethel Baptist Preschool will be closed from April 1st through April 5th to coincide with the public schools. I hope everyone will have a wonderful time on their time off!

As always, thank you for sharing your children with us. It is a privilege and an honor to help them grow into the young people they are to be. Please have a wonderful and safe Spring Break and we will see you when we get back!

The Monthly Bethel Buzz – February 2019

January has flown by and we are now into February. I hope everyone was pleased with their parent/teacher conferences that took place in January. We have so much enjoyed teaching and being with your children. It is an adventure every day! We will continue to provide the best education in a loving environment as we go through the rest of our school year.
With that being said, I would like to announce to our parents that our preschool will begin its enrollment for the 2019/2020 School year. The enrollment will begin February 1st and is open to our church and preschool families first. On February 18th it will open to the public. If you know any families looking for a preschool, please be sure to let them know about Bethel. This year we are offering a $10.00 discount on the registration fee if you register your child before March 1st.

In the month of February we celebrate two holidays. The first being Valentine’s Day. After Christmas, this is the children’s most favorite holiday to celebrate. They love giving and receiving their valentines. Each child will be making a Valentine holder for valentine exchanging which will take place during their class party. Please be on the lookout for additional information from your teacher pertaining to the details of your child’s party.

The second holiday we celebrate is Presidents’ Day. The preschool will be closed on Monday, February 18th in honor of this day. This is subject to change if the Richmond area experiences any more inclement weather and the preschool needs to make up a day. Please keep your eyes open for any e-mails pertaining to snow days and make up days.

Our next Chick-Fil-A Night will be held on Wednesday February 20th at Chick-Fil-A in Westchester Commons. It is so nice to see both church families and the preschool families come together to help support our school. This is such an amazing fundraiser for our program and Chick-Fil-A was impressed with our numbers for January, so let’s see if we can keep up the good work! Come and show your support by having dinner at Chick-Fil-A. Remember to say you’re there for Spirit Night so Bethel can receive the credit and don’t forget to stop by and spin the wheel for a chance to win prizes.

I would like to thank all of you who have supported the preschool by purchasing books from Scholastics. By ordering books for your child not only are you encouraging learning and reading but you are earning free books for your teachers and their classrooms to be shared by all. Because of your help, the preschool has earned 15 new books that are free to the school. Thank you for your support. Reading is one of the most rewarding gifts to a child. February Scholastic book orders will be due by February 26th.

The Monthly Bethel Buzz – October 2018

Well September has come and gone and we are already into October! Wow how time flies! Everyone has settled into their routines in their classrooms and all is going great! With October comes the celebration of autumn and fun events for the children!
The first Preschool event will be a field trip to Lloyd Family Farms Pumpkin Patch! Everyone who has paid will meet at Lloyd Family Farms located at 12204 Pinhook Road in Rockville, VA 23146 at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9th. Please do not be late. Our tractor ride will leave at 9:30 a.m. on the dot. Our students will take a ride throughout the working farm and see all the sights the farm has to offer. All children who have paid will be able to pick their very own pumpkin! All adults may pick a pumpkin if you like and pay at the entrance of the hayride when finished. Please bring a packed lunch to eat with your friends after the explorations have commenced. Please note that due to limited space there can be only one adult per child.

Secondly, the preschool will be holding our fith annual Yard Sale to benefit the preschool. The yard sale will be held at Bethel Baptist Church Saturday October 13th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tables are still available for purchase if you would like to sell some of your items. Tables are $20.00 per table. Just let me, Carter Cosgrove, know as soon as possible if you are interested. Otherwise come and shop the exciting things the yard sale has to offer. All proceeds from table sales and from the Preschool’s tables will go directly to the Preschool Scholarship Fund! Come join us and help support the preschool!

Let’s not forget the best part of October. Our Preschool Picture Day will be held on Tuesday October 16th. Dress up your child in their finest to have pictures taken by Michelle Proctor of Michelle Proctor Photography. We will be taking individual and class pictures at this time. Pictures can be seen and purchased on-line via a special access code for safety. Michelle even offers specialty items that would be perfect for the holidays. An order form will be sent home the week of pictures.

Chick-Fil-A Night will be held Wednesday October 17th at Chick-Fil-A in Westchester Commons from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Please come out to have dinner and support the Preschool. The preschool earns a percentage of the sales from all meals purchased as well as 100% of the money earned from spinning the wheel.  When you place your order just say it is for Spirit Night. Each spin of the wheel costs a dollar in which you can win free food and small prizes.

By ordering books for your child not only are you encouraging learning and reading but you are earning free books for your teachers and their classrooms to be shared by all. Reading is one of the most rewarding gifts to a child. October Scholastic book orders will be due by October 25th. Please take a look and begin that love of reading with your family.

What is October without a little fun and games in a safe way?! Bethel Baptist Church will be holding their annual Trunk-or-Treat on Saturday October 27th, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This is a safe alternative to trick-or-treating for your child. Food, fun and games are to be expected so look out for more information to come soon!

October will finish with classroom fall treat parties on Tuesday, October 30th or Wednesday, October 31st. Each class will have their own special celebration so please look out for additional information from your teacher regarding your class party.

One final note, this month the preschool will begin their Library times on Thursday October 4th. Every Thursday your child will be able to check out two library books to enjoy at home to be brought back the following Thursday to repeat the process. This is so exciting for our children. They love this special time in our library. Secondly, we will begin music class once a month beginning on Tuesday, October 30th for our 3-year old and Pre-K classes with Mrs. Gayle Taylor. Gayle is Bethel Baptist Church’s music director. The class will include learning about rhythm, note recognition, different instruments and singing and dancing. We will explore our world through music and movement. Lastly, the preschool will begin offering Lunch Bunch weekly to those children who are 3 and up and are potty trained. Please be on the lookout for the Lunch Bunch schedule.

Thank you so much for sharing your children with Bethel. It is a privilege and an honor to teach your child and to get them ready for their next milestone in life.
