The Monthly Bethel Buzz – May 2019

Another school year is almost at its end. We have so much enjoyed being with your children this year. Every minute has been filled with exciting adventures, lots of fun and tons of love. We hope that you and your child have had a wonderful experience here at Bethel. To those families who would like for your child to continue their journey with our preschool, please remember to register him or her for the next school year as soon as possible for spaces are filling up. To those families whose children will be graduating from Bethel, we wish you the best on your next stage of your educational journey. We know you will do awesome!
In the month of May, we like to celebrate some very special women in our lives. On Thursday May 2nd we would like to celebrate all the moms and mother figures in our lives. Each class will be hosting a Muffins for Mom event. Please join your child at 9:45 a.m. for a brief program presented by the class followed by a small reception in the classroom. We look forward to seeing you there!

Bethel Baptist Preschool will be going on their annual Richmond Metro Zoo Field Trip on Tuesday May 7th at 9:45 a.m. This is such an exciting time for our students and families to explore the amazing world of wild animals in a safe environment. Additional information will be sent out separately pertaining to this event. Please be on the lookout for it in your child’s folders.

Our next Chick-Fil-A Night will be held on Wednesday May 15th at Chick-Fil-A in Westchester Commons. I would like to thank both church families and the preschool families for coming together to help support our preschool. This Wednesday will be our last Chick-Fil-A Night for the preschool for this school year. Let’s see if we can make it our best one yet! Come and join us for food and fun and don’t forget to stop by and spin the wheel for a chance to win prizes. I hope to see everyone there!

May Scholastic book orders will be due by May 14th. This will be our last chance to order books for this school year. With the summer months just around the corner, this is an amazing way to keep your children “learning” and engaged during this time. Help support the love for adventure, education, and imagination by purchasing a book from Scholastic.

Bethel Baptist Church is our biggest supporter of the preschool. They love the program and the children, families and staff within this preschool. On Sunday, May 19th during the 10:30 church service, the preschool will be recognized by the church. This is such a wonderful event for the preschool. The entire service is about the preschool and its students. The children will perform two songs for the congregation and their families followed by a “graduation” for the Pre-K classes. After the service a luncheon will be held in honor of the preschool. We look forward to seeing you on Preschool Recognition Sunday.

Our last day of preschool will be Wednesday, May 22nd. On Thursday, May 23rd there will be no school. Instead we would like to invite all the preschoolers and their families to join us for our annual school picnic. Please come at 10:30 a.m. and meet us out at the playground where we can talk and have lots of fun. Please be sure to wear sunscreen, bring your lunch and a drink. I will be providing a huge birthday cake to celebrate all my kids who have summer birthdays! We can’t wait to see you all there.

If you are wondering what to do with your children during summer vacation, look no further. Bethel Baptist Preschool will be hosting a camp this summer. Bethel Secret Spy Camp will be held from June 3rd – June 6th and is open to all preschoolers who are potty trained and will be three by September 30th. The camp is $90.00 and will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a lunch break. We will be sending out registration forms with additional information on it for your consideration. All registration forms must be turned in no later than May 23rd. We are so excited to be able to bring this fun filled camp to you and your child and look forward to seeing you there!

As always, thank you for sharing your children with us. It has been a privilege and an honor to help them grow into the young people they are today. Please have a wonderful and safe Summer Break and we hope to see you again in the Fall! To all my soon to be Kindergartners, we wish you the best in Kindergarten!

The Monthly Bethel Buzz – April 2019

Spring has sprung and with it comes warmer weather, April showers, longer days, budding flowers and trees and of course allergies!  April is always an exciting time for the preschool. The children will begin to learn about the season and what it brings with it. The life cycles of animals, insects and plants will be studied. Students will learn ways to take care of their environment and celebrate Earth Day. Our Pre-K class will also be getting ready for Kindergarten Registration which will be held at all Elementary Schools on Thursday, April 11th. And of course, the biggest thing in April is EASTER! April is a very busy month for everyone here at Bethel!
Please note that the Preschool will be closed for the week of April 1st through the 5th in observance of Spring Break.   We will see you back on Monday, April 8th.

This year, I have a very special surprise for our classes. I always like to do a lifecycle experiment with the children so this year we will be planting our very own vegetable garden. The school has been gifted a clear garden boxes to plant carrots and green beans in. As the plants root and sprout the children will be able to watch each step through the clear box! If my plan works, the children may be more interested in eating their vegetables after seeing them grow!

I would like to remind all parents of those children who are rising Kindergartners that Kindergarten Registration will take place on Thursday April 11th. Please be on the lookout in the mail for a postcard from your school district. The post card will tell you which school to register your child in, the times you may come to register and what items you may need to bring with you at time of registration. The preschool will still be open on that Thursday with the understanding that children in the Pre-K class will be coming and going due to their registration times.

Our next Chick-Fil-A Night will be held on Wednesday April 17th at Chick-Fil-A in Westchester Commons. I would like to thank both church families and the preschool families for coming together to help support our preschool. Come and join us for food and fun and don’t forget to stop by and spin the wheel for a chance to win prizes. I hope to see everyone there!

All classes will be learning about the true meaning of Easter this month.  Each class will hold their own individual party on Thursday April 18th in their classrooms. Along with the party, each class will have their own Easter Egg Hunt on sectioned off parts of the Bethel Grounds. Please be on the lookout for additional information from your teacher.

April Scholastic book orders will be due by April 25th. Every time a book order is placed through Scholastic, the preschool earns a free book for the classroom. Children love books because they can transport them anywhere, to any time or place. It becomes a magical exciting adventure for them. Help support that love for adventure, education, and imagination. Purchase a book from Scholastic.

As always, thank you for sharing your children with us. It is a privilege and an honor to help them grow into the young people they are to be. Please have a wonderful and safe Easter Break and we will see you when we get back!

The Monthly Bethel Buzz – March 2019

April is always an exciting time for the preschool. The children will begin to learn about the season and what it brings with it. The life cycles of animals, insects and plants will be studied. Students will learn ways to take care of their environment and celebrate Earth Day. Our Pre-K class will also be getting ready for Kindergarten Registration which will be held at all Elementary Schools on Thursday, April 11th. And of course, the biggest thing in April is EASTER! April is a very busy month for everyone here at Bethel!
As the children are making strides into their next level of schooling I hope you are too by getting your children registered for the next school year. Our enrollment for the 2019/2020 School year opened to you on February 1st and to the public on February 15th.  I hope you will take advantage of the $10.00 discount on the registration fee by registering your child before March 22nd. Spots are filling up fast and now that it is open to the public, our enrollment will be on a first come, first serve basis. Please be sure to sign up as soon as possible to not lose your space. If you know of any families looking for a preschool, please be sure to let them know about Bethel.

Bethel always likes to do something special to honor our parents to let them know how much we love and appreciate them. On Thursday March 7th from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. the preschool will be hosting our annual Dads’ Night! All dads and father figures are invited to come and join us in your child’s classroom for a small program followed by crafts, food and fun! We hope you will come!

The Pre-K Class will be taking a field trip to Flat Rock Elementary School via a Powhatan School Bus on Wednesday, March 20th. The students will have the opportunity to meet the Principal and Assistant Principal, take a tour of the school and to observe and participate in a Kindergarten classroom. What a great experience to help ease the transition from Preschool to Kindergarten!

Our next Chick-Fil-A Night will be held on Wednesday March 20th  at Chick-Fil-A in Westchester Commons. It is so nice to see both church families and the preschool families come together to help support our preschool. Just a reminder that the preschool must be able to make over $300.00 in food sales to continue doing the fundraiser each month so be sure when ordering to tell them it is for Spirit Night! Don’t forget to stop by and spin the wheel for a chance to win prizes. I hope to see everyone there!

I know how much you love to have pictures of your children. I am so happy to announce we will be doing Spring Pictures this month. Michelle Proctor of Michelle Proctor Photography will be here on Thursday, March 21st to take your child’s pictures! Additional information will be sent home the week before pictures so please keep a lookout for it.

I would like to thank all of you who have supported the preschool by purchasing books from Scholastics. By ordering books for your child not only are you encouraging learning and reading but you are earning free books for your teachers and their classrooms to be shared by all.  Because of your help, the preschool has earned so many new books that are free to the school. Thank you for your support. Reading is one of the most rewarding gifts to a child. March Scholastic book orders will be due by March 21st.

Please be aware that Chesterfield County Public Schools and Powhatan County Public Schools are doing things a bit different this year. Spring Break will take place the first week of April. Bethel Baptist Preschool will be closed from April 1st through April 5th to coincide with the public schools. I hope everyone will have a wonderful time on their time off!

As always, thank you for sharing your children with us. It is a privilege and an honor to help them grow into the young people they are to be. Please have a wonderful and safe Spring Break and we will see you when we get back!
